Google, IBM Cut Jobs; Legal Cuts Continue

The past few weeks have been fairly quiet on the layoff front, but IBM (IBM: 128.38 0.00%) and Google (GOOG: 566.40 0.00%) came out today with news that they’ll be making some cuts. Google announced a small cut of 200, while IBM announced that it will be eliminating 5,000 US positions.

IBM In Talks To Acquire Sun Microsystems

It’s all over the news, but IBM (IBM: 128.38 0.00%) is in talks to acquire Santa Clara-based Sun Microsystems (JAVA: 0.00 0.00%). Sun has been struggling over the past several years, and has cut back significantly on both workforce and footprint.

Parkside Towers in Foster City Under Contract for $180M

Hines is in contract to sell its Parkside Towers office complex in Foster City. The complex is roughly 400,000 SF and is reportedly being sold to Harvest Properties and Invesco for roughly $180M ($452 psf). The complex is about 80% leased and includes tenants IBM, Axciom, and QuinStreet.
