Forbes List of At-Risk Retailers; Costar Retail Closing Data
January 22, 2009
Forbes has published a list of retailers most likely to shutter stores in the coming year, with many’s entire existence in question.
- Lane Bryant
- Eddie Bauer
- Timberland
- Ann Taylor
- Zales
- Pep Boys
- Sprint Nextel
- Starbucks
- Pacific Sunwear
- Gap
In addition, Costar recently updated its list of store closings, indicating that already 25% of anticipated store openings for the year have been offset by announced closings. By the end of the year, that ratio will undoubtedly be exponentially higher.
A full excel file of the store closings announced as of earlier this month is available courtesy of CoStar as well, and can be downloaded by following this link. I would embed the file here to make your life easier, but i’m afraid CoStar might come after me.
