Bailout Proposal Nothing More than a Patriot Act II

September 24, 2008

“Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.”

That’s section 8 of the Treasury Department’s bailout proposal that the government is looking to drive through in much the same manner that it did the Patriot Act in October, 2001. Whether right or wrong, needed or unneeded, the Bailout is just another piece of reactive legislation designed to circumvent the system of checks and balances that this country was built on. Everytime there is a crisis, it is seized upon to denigrate the country and constitution.

It was a combination of corruption, greed, and a lack of oversight with proper controls that brought us down the road we’re on. Now, we’re about to continue down the same road to try to find our way back. It just doesn’t make a lot of sense. That is, until you realize that the road goes in a circle.
