Office Hotelling Trend Continues

ABC News today featured an article discussing the ongoing trend by companies such as IBM to further reduce their real estate footprint. In the article IBM estimates that it saves about $100M annually on real estate expenses by employing the hotelling concept.
Technologies such as WiMax and further developments in conferencing technologies will continue to drive the hotelling trend. I believe technologies such as Second Life will also play a role in how workers and companies interact with each other in the future, and will likely lead to further increases in the efficiency of office space usage.
